Onslow girls photovoice project

The Photovoice project in Onslow was a participatory project for local youth to explore creativity, self identity and their connection to country through photography.

Seven teenage girls aged between 11-16 took part in the six week project. Their photographs enable us to appreciate these young women’s values and their connection to the environment.

A book was created, serving as a platform for their photography to be recognised and shared with the wider community, giving a unique insight into the personal expression of the local youth in Onslow.

Sharing of Country: Youth photography project

Local youths from the remote Pilbara region of Western Australia participated in a Photovoice project

based in Tom Price, as part of celebrating NAIDOC week in 2012.

They were encouraged to communicate their perspectives, thoughts and feelings about ‘Sharing of Country’ through photography. Their engagement, effort and participation in the project brought invaluable insight, and their photographs featured in two local community exhibitions.
